Ever feel like you're baking for a toddler who barks? That’s exactly how it started with Brad.
He’s picky, spoiled (and he knows it), but he has one soft spot—literally—for soft pumpkin dog treats . They’re gentle on his teeth, full of nourishing ingredients, and honestly… smell good enough that I almost had a bite.
If your pup is like Brad—sensitive stomach, loves soft textures, and goes bananas (or pumpkins?) for cozy treats—this recipe is going to be your new go-to.
And if you're in the mood to really spoil your dog, don't miss our No-Bake Peanut Butter Banana Treats or these Soft Banana Dog Treat Recipes !
Brad’s older now. Crunchy biscuits? Not so fun anymore.
He gets excited every time I say “cookie,” but the real magic happens when these soft, warm treats come out of the oven. They’re:
Easy to chew
Great for training (you can break them up!)
Made with 100% human-grade ingredients
Safe for sensitive bellies
The best part? You can mash these with a spoon and hide meds in them. Win-win.
If you like multitasking treats, you’ll also love these Pumpkin Banana Blueberry Dog Treats and our Dog Treats for Sensitive Tummies .
You only need a few pantry staples:
1 cup canned pumpkin puree (NOT pumpkin pie mix!)
1 egg
2 tbsp peanut butter (xylitol-free!)
2½ cups oat flour (you can blend oats at home!)
Optional: ½ tsp cinnamon (if your vet says it's safe)
🧡 Pumpkin – Soothes digestion and adds moisture
🥚 Egg – Binds and adds protein
🥜 Peanut Butter – Flavor bomb and healthy fat source
🌾 Oat Flour – Gentle on digestion and naturally gluten-free
Want to get creative? Try adding mashed banana like in these Banana Oat Peanut Butter Treats or a spoon of applesauce like in Applesauce Carrot Dog Treats !
This is the cozy kind of baking that makes your house smell like fall 🍂
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a tray with parchment.
In a bowl, mix pumpkin, egg, and peanut butter until smooth.
Add oat flour (and cinnamon if using). Stir until it forms soft dough.
Roll out and cut into fun shapes, or drop spoonfuls like cookies.
Bake for 12–15 minutes for super soft, or up to 20 mins for firmer.
Let cool completely before letting Brad go wild.
Want to skip the oven? Try our No-Bake 3-Ingredient Treats or make Frozen Pumpkin Bites !
Fridge: Airtight container for up to 5 days
Freezer: Store up to 3 months — just thaw for 30 minutes or microwave for 5–10 seconds
I usually bake a big batch on Sunday and freeze half. Brad gives them the same zoomies approval every time.
Looking for long-lasting treats? Try these Dehydrated Sweet Potato Dog Treats .
These treats are super forgiving. You can:
Add shredded carrots or blueberries
Replace oat flour with almond flour like this
Use silicone molds for cute shapes (see homemade mold treats )
And if your pup is teething or recovering from dental work? These are soft enough to be flattened into mini discs or frozen into popsicles.
