Two Halloweens ago, I hosted a small “Paw-lloween” party for friends and their dogs. I baked bone-shaped biscuits with apple and cinnamon, and the sight of a table full of treats shaped like little bones made everyone smile. Grace didn’t care about the shape — but the flavor? She sat front row for the taste test.

Why I Started Making Dog Themed Halloween Treats

I’ve always loved making dog-themed snacks for parties, and Halloween is the perfect excuse to get extra creative. For me, dog themed Halloween treats are a way to combine the festive fun of the season with shapes and flavors that bring joy to both humans and pups.

Recipe: 3-Ingredient Pumpkin Banana Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oat flour

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce or grated apple

  • 1 egg

  • ½ tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Mix applesauce (or grated apple) with egg in a bowl.

  3. Stir in cinnamon if using.

  4. Gradually add oat flour until dough forms.

  5. Roll out and cut with bone-shaped cutters.

  6. Bake 15–18 minutes until firm.

  7. Cool before serving.

Common Issues & Fixes

  • Too sticky? Add a bit more flour.

  • No bone cutter? Cut into squares.

  • Too dry? Add 1–2 tsp water.

Bonding with My Dog During Prep

Grace loves apples, so making these is a challenge — she tries to steal slices before I even start grating. I always give her a small piece while we prep; it’s our unspoken deal.

Customizing the Recipe

  • Add chopped parsley for fresh breath.

  • Swap apple for pear for a different flavor.

  • Make mini bones for training rewards.

Storage Tips

  • Room temperature: 3 days.

  • Fridge: 1 week.

  • Freezer: 2 months.

Final Thoughts:

Dog themed Halloween treats are a fun way to celebrate the season and share joy with every guest — furry or not. These apple cinnamon bones are festive, healthy, and easy to make.
