You know those cozy evenings when all you want to do is stay in and do something sweet for someone you love? That’s how this no bake pumpkin puree dog treat recipe came to life.
Our dog Max had a rough week with allergies acting up and a sensitive tummy. I wanted to make something soothing, easy to digest, and full of love—and pumpkin was the answer. Max LOVES anything pumpkin, and when I saw those puppy eyes watching me in the kitchen, I knew it was time to whip up something special (and safe) just for him.
If your pup has a sensitive stomach, loves pumpkin, or you're looking for easy no-bake dog treat ideas , here are some other homemade recipes that pair perfectly with this one: Frozen Pumpkin Applesauce Dog Treats , Pumpkin Almond Flour Dog Treats , or Homemade Pumpkin Applesauce Treats .

Max is picky. Like, super picky. But he adores pumpkin dog treats . One day, I ran out of baked treats and didn’t want to fire up the oven. I had pumpkin puree , oats, and peanut butter sitting there—and suddenly, we had our new go-to snack.
They take under 10 minutes, require zero baking, and they’re gentle on Max’s belly.
Here’s what you need for this wholesome 3-ingredient dog treat recipe :
1/2 cup 100% pure pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
1/4 cup xylitol-free peanut butter (look for unsweetened)
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats (or quick oats)
A dash of cinnamon (only if your vet gives the okay)
1 tbsp plain Greek yogurt for extra creaminess
Pulse oats in a blender or food processor until they’re a coarse flour (leave a few chunks for texture).
In a bowl, mix pumpkin puree and peanut butter until smooth.
Stir in the oat flour until it forms a dough.
Roll into small balls or press into silicone molds .
Chill in the fridge for 1–2 hours until firm.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days, or freeze for longer shelf life.
These homemade pumpkin dog treats are more than cute—they’re packed with goodness:
Pumpkin : High in fiber, great for digestion
Peanut butter : Healthy fats and protein (as long as it’s xylitol-free !)
Oats : Gentle on the stomach and provide sustained energy
Want to switch it up?
Swap peanut butter with mashed banana or plain Greek yogurt ( banana treat ideas )
Add finely shredded carrot or apple (no seeds!)
Sprinkle in some chia seeds for an omega-3 boost
I think my favorite part was how Max sat by my feet the whole time, watching every move I made. As soon as I rolled the first ball, he stood up, tail wagging. It was our little kitchen moment—no screens, no noise, just me and Max making healthy homemade dog snacks .
Refrigerator : Good for 7 days
Freezer : Lasts up to 2 months
Serving : 1-2 small treats per day, depending on your dog’s size
Tip: For summer, freeze them in paw-shaped molds for a fun cooling treat!
Dough too sticky? Add more oats – 1 tablespoon at a time.
Too dry? Mix in a splash of water or more pumpkin puree.
Dog isn’t a fan of peanut butter? Try almond butter (make sure it's dog-safe) or banana.
Every time Max licks the last crumb off his nose, I feel a little more connected to him. These simple treats remind me that love doesn’t have to be complicated. Just a spoon, a bowl, and a heart full of care.
If you try these, I’d love to hear how your pup likes them. Snap a pic, tag us, and let’s spread some cozy dog kitchen joy together.
