Why I Make These for Mocha Every Week

Mocha’s tail starts wagging before I even open the peanut butter jar. It’s his favorite smell in the world. This recipe came together on a rainy day when I had one banana left, a scoop of oats, and just enough peanut butter.

Now, these are his weekly treat — soft enough to break for training, yet hearty enough to feel like a reward.

Peanut Butter Banana Oat Dog Treats Recipe

Soft, chewy, and made with just 3 ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana (mashed)

  • 1/2 cup xylitol-free peanut butter (unsweetened)

  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats (or pulse into oat flour for softer texture)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.

  3. Use your hands to form dough into small balls or press flat and cut into shapes.

  4. Place on parchment-lined baking tray.

  5. Bake 18–22 minutes.

  6. Let cool completely before storing.

Optional Add-In: 1 egg for extra protein and binding.

Why These Treats Are Good for Your Dog

Ingredient Health Benefit
Banana Natural sweetness, fiber, potassium
Peanut Butter Protein, healthy fats (ensure xylitol-free)
Rolled Oats Supports digestion, low in allergens

These treats avoid corn, soy, wheat, dairy, artificial colors, and preservatives — all of which are commonly linked to inflammation, allergies, and tummy troubles.

Storage & Shelf Life Tips

  • Refrigerate for up to 10 days

  • Freeze for up to 3 months

Pro Tip: Double the batch and keep half frozen for quick grab-and-go treats or training sessions.

Common Issues & Fixes

Dough too crumbly? Add more banana or a spoon of water.

Treats too soft after baking? Bake 5 minutes longer or let cool on the tray.

Too firm for small dogs? Use oat flour instead of rolled oats.

Dog not interested? Warm up slightly or break over kibble.

Final Thoughts: Small Effort, Big Tail Wags

Mocha doesn’t care about gourmet. He cares about time with me — and maybe the smell of peanut butter. These treats are our love language, baked in banana and oats.

They’re simple, safe, and made for real life — whether you’re training, treating, or just saying “I love you” in snack form.
