If your dog loves wholesome, real-food treats, these Peanut Butter Oatmeal Banana Dog Treats will become a favorite. They're made with just a few pantry staples, and you can find more nourishing recipes here:
My rescue pup, Aurora, has always had a sensitive tummy and an even more sensitive heart. After trying one too many store-bought options that left her itchy or gassy, I looked into simple, clean ingredients I already had at home. That’s how this recipe—built around banana, oats, and peanut butter—came to life.
These treats are now our weekend staple. I even started exploring other options like:
1 ripe banana (mashed)
1 cup rolled oats (whole or ground into flour)
1/4 cup xylitol-free peanut butter
1 egg
A spoonful of unsweetened applesauce
A dash of cinnamon (only if your vet approves)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mash the banana in a large mixing bowl.
Stir in the peanut butter and egg.
Mix in the oats until the dough forms.
Roll or press into your preferred shapes.
Bake for 15–18 minutes.
Cool completely before giving to your dog.

Banana : Fiber, potassium, natural sweetness
Oats : Great for digestion and gentle on the stomach

For variety, try these other nutrient-packed ideas:
Every dog is different! You can:
Add grated carrot or zucchini
Swap the egg for flaxseed meal or applesauce
Use almond flour for a grain-free version
Aurora waits patiently while I mix the dough, paws tapping the floor. I swear she knows when it’s “baking day.” She licks the spoon (after I’m done!) and watches the oven like it’s a squirrel.
We also enjoy testing new treats from this list:
Store in an airtight container for 5–7 days
Freeze leftovers for up to 2 months
Let frozen treats thaw slightly before serving
Too dry? Add more banana or applesauce
Too wet? Mix in extra oats
Want them crunchier? Bake 2–3 minutes longer
Peanut Butter Oatmeal Banana Dog Treats are more than just snacks—they’re one of the ways I show Aurora she’s loved and safe. And if you’re on your own homemade treat journey, I hope this one becomes a staple for you too.
