It was a hot summer afternoon, and my pup Sky was panting like crazy after her playtime in the yard. I wanted to reward her with something cool and delicious—but I didn’t want to turn on the oven. Plus, I’d just read an article about how so many commercial dog treats are packed with fillers and preservatives.
So I opened the pantry, grabbed some natural peanut butter, a ripe banana, and some oats—and just like that, these Quick Peanut Butter Dog Treats were born. Sky was obsessed! And best of all, they were healthy, easy to make, and took just a few minutes to throw together. If your pup loves refreshing snacks too, you might also enjoy trying these Frozen Dog Treats with Yogurt and Ice Cube Trays or these Easy No-Bake Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats —they're just as simple and perfect for warm days.
1 ripe banana (mashed)
1/3 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
1 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp plain Greek yogurt (for creaminess)
1 tbsp shredded carrot (for texture)
Reminder: Always use xylitol-free peanut butter! Xylitol is toxic to dogs.
Mash the banana in a bowl.
Add peanut butter and oats. Stir until fully combined.
If using yogurt or shredded carrot, mix them in.
Roll into small balls or press into silicone molds.
Freeze for 30–60 minutes until firm.
Serve straight from the fridge or freezer.

Banana : Full of fiber, potassium, and vitamin B6
Peanut butter : Rich in protein and healthy fats
Oats : Gentle on digestion and packed with nutrients
Swap banana with unsweetened applesauce if your dog prefers.
Add blueberries or shredded coconut for variety.
Use pumpkin puree instead of banana in the fall.
Sky now recognizes the sound of the peanut butter jar. As soon as she hears the lid twist off, she trots into the kitchen with her tail wagging. Making these no-bake treats has become our little ritual. I talk to her the whole time and let her lick the spoon once we’re done. Honestly, it’s the highlight of both our days. If you’re looking for more sweet bonding moments in the kitchen, you might also enjoy making these Soft Homemade Banana Dog Treats or these Homemade Pumpkin Applesauce Dog Treats —they’re simple, wholesome, and tail-wagging good every time.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days
Freeze for up to 3 months
Serve cold for a cooling summer snack
Too sticky? Add more oats.
Too dry? Mix in a bit more banana or a spoonful of yogurt.
Not firming up? Freeze longer or chill overnight.
These treats aren't just snacks—they're small gestures of love. Watching Sky enjoy something I made with my own hands makes me feel closer to her. And in the quiet moments after she licks her paws clean and curls up next to me, I know she feels it too.
Homemade treats like these remind us to slow down and savor life’s simple joys. And they prove that love really can be rolled into bite-sized pieces.
Thanks for making these moments matter. Give your pup a treat from Sky and me. ❤️
