A soft, wholesome recipe made with love (and pantry staples).
Table of contents
It all started with Banjo —my goofy, golden-hearted rescue who turns into a total softie at the smell of peanut butter. One afternoon, I was cleaning out the fridge and realized I had half a jar of natural peanut butter, one very ripe banana, and a bit of applesauce left from baking. Banjo was sitting nearby, head tilted, watching my every move like he knew something good was coming.
Instead of tossing the ingredients into a smoothie for myself, I thought—why not make something special for him? I didn’t want fillers, I didn’t want sugar, and I definitely didn’t want another expensive bag of treats that would sit forgotten in the pantry. I just wanted something real.
And so, these soft, chewy, tail-wag-worthy Peanut Butter Banana Applesauce Dog Treats were born. Now, Banjo knows the sound of the treat jar lid better than the doorbell.
🦴 If your pup loves banana treats too, try these Easy No-Bake Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats —perfect for hot days or fast prep.
These treats come together with just a few wholesome, dog-safe ingredients:
1 ripe banana , mashed
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce (no added sugar or xylitol)
1/3 cup natural peanut butter (make sure it’s xylitol-free!)
1 1/2 cups oat flour (or quick oats blended into flour)
Optional: 1 egg (for extra binding and protein)
🛑 Important : Always use xylitol-free peanut butter . Xylitol is toxic to dogs, even in small amounts.
