Easy
18 Dog Treats
1 cup natural peanut butter (unsalted and xylitol-free)
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gentler option)
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 egg
1–2 tablespoons water (if needed for dough consistency)
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix the wet ingredients. In a medium bowl, whisk together peanut butter, melted coconut oil, applesauce, and egg until smooth.
Add the flour. Stir in the whole wheat flour and mix until a dough forms. If the dough feels too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time.
Roll the dough. Lightly flour a surface and roll the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut the treats. Use a bone-shaped cookie cutter to create dog biscuits and place them on the baking sheet.
Bake. Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden and firm.
Cool completely before giving them to your dog.
Store cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
For longer freshness, refrigerate them for up to 2 weeks.
These treats also freeze well for up to 3 months. Just thaw a few at a time before serving.
Small dogs: 1 small treat per day
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day
Large dogs: 2–3 treats per day
Always offer treats in moderation alongside a balanced diet and plenty of fresh water.
