18 Dog Treats
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 small apple, finely grated (peeled and cored)
1½ cups rolled oats
1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gentler option)
1 egg
1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, dog-safe in small amounts)
2–4 tablespoons water (as needed for dough consistency)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine applesauce, grated apple, egg, and melted coconut oil. Stir until well mixed.
Add rolled oats, flour, and cinnamon. Mix until a dough forms.
Gradually add water if the dough feels too dry; it should be firm but pliable.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Cut into bone shapes or small squares using a cookie cutter or knife.
Place treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
Let treats cool completely before serving to your dog.
Store cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw before serving.
Small dogs: 1 small treat per day
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day
Large dogs: 2–3 treats per day
Treats should complement your dog’s regular diet and be given in moderation.
