18 Dog Treats
1 cup natural unsweetened peanut butter (xylitol-free)
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
2 cups whole wheat flour
¼ cup water (as needed for dough)
⅓ cup unsweetened strawberry or raspberry puree (acts as the “jelly”)
Preheat the oven to 175°C / 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix peanut butter and applesauce in a large bowl until smooth.
Add flour gradually and mix until a soft dough forms. If the dough is dry, add water one tablespoon at a time.
Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.
Cut into bone shapes using a cookie cutter.
Create the jelly layer by lightly spreading a thin layer of fruit puree on half of the cut shapes.
Top with another bone shape and gently press the edges.
Place on the baking sheet and bake for 18–20 minutes until firm and lightly golden.
Cool completely before serving to your dog.
Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 10 days to keep them fresh longer.
Freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. Thaw before serving.
