Easy
18 Dog Treats
2–3 pounds boneless, skinless turkey breast
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
1 teaspoon turmeric (optional)
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Slice the turkey breast into thin, even strips (about ¼-inch thick). Cutting against the grain helps create a tender chew.
If using, lightly toss the strips with olive oil and optional turmeric and parsley.
Arrange turkey slices in a single layer on dehydrator trays, leaving space between each piece.
Set dehydrator to 160°F (70°C) and dry for 6–8 hours, flipping halfway through.
Jerky is done when fully dry, firm, and no moisture remains inside.
Allow to cool completely before serving or storing.
Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
For longer storage, refrigerate up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
Small dogs: 1–2 small pieces
Medium dogs: 2–3 pieces
Large dogs: 3–5 pieces
(Always adjust based on your dog’s size, activity level, and diet.)
The first time I offered one of these homemade turkey jerky treats, the reaction said everything. Ears perked. Nose twitched. Then came that slow, careful chew—the kind that means something special is happening. From that moment on, treat time became an event. A gentle nudge at my leg. A hopeful glance toward the kitchen. A tail wag that starts small and quickly turns into a full-body celebration. Watching that pure excitement reminds me why I love making treats at home. It’s not just about knowing what’s in them—it’s about the joy, trust, and simple happiness that comes from sharing something made with care.
