30–35 minutes
18 dog treats
1 cup cooked sweet potato (mashed and cooled)
1 cup unsweetened applesauce (no sugar or xylitol)
2½ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gentler option)
1 egg
1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, dog-safe)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix the mashed sweet potato, applesauce, and egg until smooth.
Gradually add the flour and cinnamon, mixing until a firm dough forms.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Cut into bone or desired shapes using cookie cutters.
Place treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until firm and lightly golden.
Let cool completely before serving to your dog.
Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer freshness, keep them refrigerated for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Always ensure treats are fully cooled before storing to prevent moisture buildup.
Small dogs: 1 small treat per day
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day
Large dogs: Up to 3 treats per day
Treats should be given in moderation and not replace a balanced diet.
