18 Dog Treats
1 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour)
1 egg
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2–4 tablespoons water (as needed)
1 tablespoon carob powder or finely crushed dog-safe biscuits (for speckles)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, mix the peanut butter, egg, and applesauce until smooth.
Add the flour gradually, stirring until a dough begins to form.
Add water one tablespoon at a time until the dough becomes firm but rollable.
Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
Use an egg-shaped cookie cutter to cut out treats.
Sprinkle a tiny pinch of carob powder or crushed biscuit crumbs onto the tops to create the “speckled egg” look.
Place treats on the baking sheet and bake for 18–20 minutes until lightly golden.
Let the treats cool completely before serving to your dog.
Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
For longer freshness, keep them refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
You can also freeze the treats for up to 3 months and thaw as needed.
Small dogs: 1 small treat
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats
Large dogs: 2–3 treats
Treats should always be given in moderation alongside a balanced diet.
