Prep time

10 minutes

Cook time

20–25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gentler option)

  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce (green apple preferred)

  • ½ cup finely grated fresh green apple (peeled, seeds removed)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted

  • 1–2 tablespoons water (as needed for dough consistency)

How to make

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and grated green apple.

  • Add the applesauce, egg, and melted coconut oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.

  • If the dough feels dry, add water one tablespoon at a time until workable.

  • Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.

  • Cut into bone shapes or small squares using a cookie cutter or knife.

  • Place treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes, until lightly golden and firm.

  • Let treats cool completely before serving to your dog.

How to store

Store cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
For longer freshness, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months. Always thaw fully before serving.

Serving sizes

  • Small dogs: 1 treat per day

  • Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day

  • Large dogs: 2–3 treats per day

Treats should complement your dog’s regular diet and be given in moderation.
