These Fresh Apple Dog Treats are incredibly easy to make, use simple pantry ingredients, and come together fast with no special equipment. They’re a wholesome, homemade way to spoil your dog with a naturally sweet, crunchy snack you’ll feel good about baking.

1 cup fresh apple, finely grated (peeled and cored)
1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
1 egg
2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional, dog-safe amount)
2–4 tablespoons water (as needed
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine the grated apple, egg, applesauce, and melted coconut oil. Mix well.
Add the flour and cinnamon, stirring until a dough forms.
Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough is firm but rollable.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Cut into bone shapes (or any shape you like) and place on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly golden and firm.
Let the treats cool completely before serving.
Store the cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer freshness, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Always thaw frozen treats fully before serving.
Small dogs: 1 treat per day
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day
Large dogs: 2–3 treats per day
Treats should complement a balanced diet and be given in moderation.
