If you’ve ever searched for “homemade dog treats,” you’ve probably noticed that peanut butter is everywhere. And while it’s tasty and dog-approved, not every pup can enjoy it.

Maybe your dog has allergies, a sensitive stomach, or you just want to switch things up.

That’s exactly why I started making easy dog treat recipes without peanut butter for my boy Ted — treats that are still healthy, still delicious, and still make his tail wag like crazy.

Why Make Dog Treats Without Peanut Butter?

  • Allergies & Sensitivities – Some dogs can’t tolerate peanuts or peanut butter.

  • Calorie Control – Peanut butter is calorie-dense; these recipes are lighter.

  • Variety – Changing flavors keeps your dog interested.

  • Make them softer – Reduce baking time by 3–5 minutes for senior dogs.

  • Add variety – Mix in blueberries, pumpkin, or spinach for extra nutrients.

  • Freeze for later – Store baked treats in freezer bags for up to 3 months.

  • Silicone molds – Use paw or bone molds for fun shapes.

  • Double the batch – Saves time and keeps treats ready for the week.

Final Thoughts 💛🐶

Ted has taught me that you don’t need peanut butter to make a dog treat he’ll go crazy for. These recipes prove that wholesome, simple ingredients can turn into something special — without the allergens or heaviness of peanut butter.

Whether your dog loves fruity flavors, hearty chicken, or soft baked bites, rotating flavors keeps snack time exciting. And the best part? You know exactly what’s in every single bite.
