When I first started making dog treats without eggs, I wasn’t sure how they’d turn out. But after some trial, error, and plenty of taste tests from my pup Cillian , I discovered two foolproof recipes that are easy, healthy, and loved by dogs. Whether you’re avoiding eggs due to allergies or just don’t have them on hand, these treats are packed with flavor and nutrients—without sacrificing texture.

(Psst… while you’re here, explore our homemade frozen dog treat ideas and easy no-bake peanut butter banana treats for even more inspiration!)

Recipe 1 – Carrot & Oat Soft Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oat flour (you can make this by blending rolled oats)

  • ½ cup finely grated carrots

  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (melted)

  • 2–3 tbsp water (as needed)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl, mix oat flour, carrots, and applesauce.

  3. Stir in melted coconut oil and add water slowly until the dough sticks together.

  4. Roll into small balls or press into silicone molds.

  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes until firm on the outside but soft inside.

  6. Let cool completely before serving.

Why it’s good for your dog:

  • Carrots → High in vitamin A for eye health.

  • Oats → Gentle fiber for digestion.

  • Coconut oil → Supports skin & coat.

Recipe 2 – Banana & Blueberry Chewy Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe banana (mashed)

  • ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries (chopped)

  • 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)

  • ¼ cup water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).

  2. Mash banana in a large mixing bowl.

  3. Stir in chopped blueberries.

  4. Add flour and mix well, slowly adding water until a dough forms.

  5. Roll dough to 1 cm thick, cut into shapes, and place on baking sheet.

  6. Bake for 20 minutes for softer treats or 25 minutes for crunchier bites.

  7. Cool before serving.

Why it’s good for your dog:

  • Bananas → Potassium for muscle health.

  • Blueberries → Antioxidants for immunity.

  • No added sugar → Safe for sensitive stomachs.

Tips & Customizations

  • Swap blueberries for strawberries if your dog prefers.

  • Use pumpkin puree instead of applesauce for a fall flavor.

  • Add a pinch of cinnamon to baked recipes for extra aroma (avoid in large amounts).

  • Make mini-bites for training rewards or larger treats for special occasions.

Final Thoughts

Making dog treats without eggs doesn’t have to mean compromising on taste, texture, or nutrition. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create healthy snacks that are gentle on sensitive stomachs and easy to store.

Cillian might not care about the ingredient list, but the tail wags and excited barks tell me everything I need to know—these recipes are a hit.
