A wholesome, no-bake recipe your pup will drool over—perfect for hot days or anytime you want to spoil your fur baby with something homemade!

Why I Started Making Banana Peanut Butter and Yogurt Dog Treats

Last summer, my golden retriever Bruno was pouncing around the yard like usual… until the heat wave hit. He flopped down under the porch with his tongue dragging on the deck, eyes begging for relief. I remembered a recipe for Easy No-Bake Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats I’d seen on Pinterest and thought, “Why not add yogurt for extra creaminess?”

One taste test later (I may have licked the spoon…), and Bruno was hooked. Now whenever the thermometer climbs, he knows exactly where to find me—right by the freezer. 🐾

Ingredients You’ll Need

You only need four simple, dog-safe ingredients :

  • 1 ripe banana

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt (xylitol-free & probiotic-rich)

  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (unsweetened, always xylitol-free!)

  • Optional : 1 teaspoon honey (for adult dogs, in moderation)

🛑 Always use xylitol-free peanut butter and yogurt with no artificial sweeteners.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Prep Time : 5 minutes

Freeze Time : 2–3 hours

Yields : 12 small treats (ice cube or silicone mold)

  1. Mash the banana in a bowl until very smooth.

  2. Stir in the Greek yogurt and peanut butter (and honey, if using) until silky.

  3. Spoon the batter into molds or trays. Tap to remove air bubbles.

  4. Freeze flat for 2–3 hours, until solid.

  5. Pop out and transfer to a labeled freezer bag.

Bonding with My Dog During Prep

Every time I scoop Bruno’s portion, he gently rests his head on my knee, tail wagging like a metronome. I let him sniff the bowl before freezing—his little “taste test” is our special ritual.

Those quiet moments, spoon in hand, remind me that cooking for him is cooking from the heart. ❤️

Storing and Serving Tips

  • Storage : Freeze in sealed bags or containers for up to 3 weeks

  • Serving : 1–2 treats on hot days or after walks

  • Thawing : Let sit 1–2 mins if too hard

Common Issues & Fixes

  • Stuck in mold? Run the bottom under warm water for 5 seconds

  • Too runny? Add 1 tbsp oat flour or chill 15 mins, then remix

📌 Final Thoughts

Watching Bella crunch on these frozen bites, eyes half-closed in bliss, warms my heart more than any summer sun. In those moments, I’m reminded that the simplest acts—peeling a banana, whisking yogurt—can create the biggest smiles. Here’s to many more sun-splashed afternoons and tail-wagging memories.
