25 minutes
1 cup rolled oats
¾ cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour)
1 small apple, finely grated (seeds removed)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg
2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
2–4 tablespoons water (as needed for dough)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix the oats, flour, and cinnamon until evenly combined.
Add the grated apple, egg, and applesauce. Stir until a dough begins to form.
Slowly add water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough is firm but pliable.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Cut into bone shapes or desired designs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until golden and firm.
Allow the treats to cool completely on a rack before serving.
Once fully cooled, store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer freshness, refrigerate them for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months. Always thaw frozen treats before serving.
Small dogs: 1 small treat per day
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day
Large dogs: 2–3 treats per day
Treats should be given in moderation and as part of a balanced diet.
