1 cup whole wheat flour
½ cup unsweetened applesauce (no sugar or xylitol)
1 small apple, finely grated (peeled and cored)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg
1–2 tablespoons water (as needed)
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl: whole wheat flour and cinnamon.
Add wet ingredients: applesauce, grated apple, and egg. Stir until combined.
Form the dough by adding water one tablespoon at a time until a soft, rollable dough forms.
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Cut into shapes using bone-shaped or small cookie cutters.
Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until lightly golden and firm.
