20 minutes
1 cup whole wheat flour (or all-purpose flour)
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg
1 tablespoon coconut oil (melted)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and cinnamon.
Add applesauce, shredded cheese, egg, and melted coconut oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Cut into desired shapes (bone-shaped cutters work great).
Place treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18–22 minutes, until lightly golden and firm.
Let the treats cool completely before serving.
Store the cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
For longer storage, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Always allow frozen treats to thaw before giving them to your dog.
Small dogs: 1 treat per day
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day
Large dogs: 2–3 treats per day
Treats should be given in moderation and as part of a balanced diet
