15 minutes
25–30 minutes
1 cup grated carrot
1 cup finely chopped or grated apple (core and seeds removed)
2½ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for a gentler option)
1 large egg
¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
2–4 tablespoons water (as needed for dough consistency)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix the grated carrot, apple, egg, and applesauce until well combined.
Gradually add the flour, mixing until a firm dough forms. Add water one tablespoon at a time if the dough feels too dry.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Cut into bone shapes or simple squares using a cookie cutter or knife.
Place treats on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes, until lightly golden and firm.
Allow treats to cool completely before serving to your dog.
Store the cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer freshness, refrigerate for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Always thaw frozen treats fully before serving.
Small dogs: 1 small treat per day
Medium dogs: 1–2 treats per day
Large dogs: 2–3 treats per day
Treats should complement your dog’s regular diet and be given in moderation.
