• 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for sensitive stomachs)

• ½ cup unsweetened applesauce

• ½ cup fresh apple, finely grated (no seeds)

• 2 strips bacon, cooked crispy and finely chopped

• 1 egg

• 1–2 tablespoons water (as needed for dough consistency)

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and chopped bacon.

3. Add the applesauce, grated apple, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.

4. If the dough feels too dry, add water one tablespoon at a time until pliable.

5. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.

6. Cut into shapes (bone shapes work great) and place evenly on the baking sheet.

7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until treats are firm and lightly golden.

8. Let cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Store the cooled treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
For longer storage, keep them in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 3 months. Always allow frozen treats to thaw before serving.
